FURNITURE #1 – WIENER GEFLECHT

around the middle of the nineteenth century, austrian furniture manufacturer michael thonet devised new techniques which made the fabrication of the so-called ‘wiener geflecht’ possible. best known from the famous bentwood thonet chairs, it has become a classic in cafés all over the world.

chair from a viennese fleamarket cost 5€ and came with a plushy pink velvet cushion.
